In this regard, the brand’s research in the field of high-tech materials is almost unmatched. One of the newest members of the Luminor series is a cool invisible monochrome version that combines innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. Meet Panerai Luminor Marina DMLS Titanium 44mm PAM1662.
The new Panerai Luminor Marina PAM1662 combines high-tech functions with a secret sporty style. Its case is a mixture of DMLS Titanium and Carbotech™ (combination for Lo Scienziato). DMLS Titanium is lightweight and durable, and is manufactured using direct metal laser sintering technology, which is a 3D printing technology that involves the layer-by-layer deposition of metal powder. In short, a laser is used to partially melt the particles, making them stick together. Generally speaking, watchmakers use additive manufacturing for modeling and prototyping. The continuous production of watch cases is of course unusual. This technology allows precise and complex shapes to be created without the use of tools and further reduces the weight of the watch case.
The bezel, crown and its safety lever use Carbotech™ technology, which is a high-tech carbon composite material that Panerai has been favored by fans of the brand since 2015. The bottom cover is made of DLC coated titanium. The waterproof rating is 30 ATM or 300m.
The dark case of the Panerai Luminor Marina DMLS is paired with a monochrome, unpolished gray sandwich dial, with Super-LumiNova hour markers and hands in the same color. This watch is powered by the tried-and-tested internal P.9010 movement, which is a large 37.80 mm automatic movement that displays hours, minutes, small seconds and date. The balance wheel is placed under the full balance bridge, and the balance wheel vibrates 28,800 times per hour. Equipped with two barrels, the power reserve can be stored for three days when the chain is fully wound.
