Zenith Defy 21 Urban Jungle

Zenith’s high-speed Defy 21 fighter is ready to operate in large cities, and it is reported that he should be on duty in terms of military green fatigue.

The watch brand of LVMH Group showcased the novelty of 2021 in a week-long online event from January 25th to 29th. The new products Zenith will showcase include the new ceramic color of its fastest-produced chronograph Defy 21. Zenith Defy 21 is decorated with khaki green ceramics this year, ready to welcome the urban jungle.

Zenith was launched in 2017 to enhance the visibility of its legendary high-frequency El Primero chronograph movement with a new and faster movement that meets the expectations of the 21st century. Defy El Primero 21 increased the speed of the 1969 El Primero movement from 5Hz to 50Hz and increased the accuracy tenfold, from 1/10 second to 1/100 second chronograph reading. In order to keep up with the extreme speed of the movement, Defy 21 is equipped with a double escapement and a double barrel. At present, Zenith is the highest frequency chronograph in conventional production, and the modern Defy 21 case is naturally a candidate for high-tech materials. In the past three years, Defy 21 has appeared in titanium, carbon fiber and ceramic watch cases, including the wild ultraviolet model launched in 2020.

Green ceramic
Defy 21 was launched in 2021 in combat mode. The 44 mm tonneau-shaped case of the Defy 21 has an angular base and a round bezel. It is made of khaki green ceramic and has a sporty, non-reflective matte effect. In contrast, the rectangular pusher and crown are made of steel. The bottom cover is open and the waterproof depth is 100 meters.

Skeleton dial
The hollow dial can be overwhelmed during the first inspection. Starting from the circumference is a silver scale that tracks the lightning speed of the central chronograph second hand. The second hand of the white stopwatch revolves around the dial, and its zenith stellar balance can record the elapsed time, accurate to 1/100 of a second. The rhodium-plated hour markers are suspended from the black track, like the three central hands, all treated with Super-LumiNova.

The layout of the triple composite disc is as follows: two open sub-dials (silver 30-minute timer at 3 o’clock, black 60-second black timer at 6 o’clock), used to display timing information, and set there The tiny second hand. 9:00. Another indicator on the dial is the linear power reserve indicator at noon. Looking down at the complex landscape of the dial, you can see that the green part of the motherboard matches the case. swiss watches for men

Two regulatory agencies
In order to cope with the huge energy consumption of 50Hz (360,000 heartbeats per hour), the El Primero 9004 movement is equipped with two escapements. (You can see an escapement on the dial between 7 and 8 o’clock.) The chronograph function of the watch (hours, minutes and seconds) is adjusted by El Primero’s regular 5Hz frequency, while the chronograph is controlled by the second Each escapement is controlled at a frequency of 50 Hz. In order to keep the two independent escapements running smoothly, the movement is also equipped with two barrels, which can provide approximately 50 hours of power reserve without the use of a chronograph. Despite the speed, the chronograph has never been affected, and the movement has passed the Time Lab certified chronograph. Like other Defy 21 models, the rotor is a hollow star and is selected in green to match the case.
