The Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887 was first introduced by Breguet in platinum in 2017 and, in addition to the tourbillon, the watch contains a rather unusual complication. This is the Equation ofTime marchante, which differs from the conventional method of displaying the Equation of Time.

The Marine 5887 is not only equipped with a tourbillon of the newest generation, but alsoa perpetual calendar and an equation of time. The latter is a reminiscence to the historical fact, that theKing of France, Louis XVIII appointed A.-L. Breguet as Horologer de la Marine Royale in 1815.

The Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887 belongs to this last category, as it combines thepracticality of a perpetual calendar, the spectacle of a tourbillon (Breguet’s invention) and an equation oftime (a somewhat obsolete function for today’s mariners but still pretty pleasant), all set against a dialenlivened with choppy waves and extravagant details and finishes.
